Our Story

Underplants is a female-led startup, based in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia. We pride ourselves on being eco conscious from root to tip. The idea for Underplants sprouted from a discussion between co-founders Dom, Marnie and friends around wardrobe necessities and the impact that they’re having on the environment. They started to wonder how much people’s discarded undies were contributing to the global wastage problem and how they could reduce this contribution.

Dom and Marns decided they wanted to craft underwear from sustainable, durable, fabric that made the smallest environmental impact possible. The duo invested their energy into growing a company that practiced sustainability at every possible turn. From choosing to work with manufacturers that hold the highest standard of ethics with regards to workers' rights and the environment (WRAP Gold Certificate of Compliance) to shipping through Australia Post's carbon-neutral parcel delivery service and banking with Bank of Australia because of their Responsible Banking Policy.

The Underplants idea fully flourished, when Dom and Marnie discovered they could team up with One Tree Planted, to plant a tree with every purchase and to regenerate the land that was destroyed in the 2019-2020 bushfires. Underplants' mission is to empower consumers to feel comfortable in their skin and about their underwear purchases.
